Tina Taylor-Schmidt started dancing at the age of three and has never stopped! She has been teaching for over 20 years, and directing dance companies for the past 14.
She has won many awards for her choreography over the years, and her Lyrical/Contemporary choreography has been chosen every year to perform at the U of A Jazz Showcase since 2008. She has choreographed many musicals for Theatre groups and high school Drama departments such as, “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, “All Shook Up” and “Once on This Island”. Her choreography of the piece, “Witches” won Third Place out of one hundred entries at the National Shakespeare festival in 2011.
Tina believes her biggest reward is to be able to watch the children she teaches grow into not only strong, beautiful dancers and performers but strong, beautiful young adults as well.
“Dance and Musical Theatre is such an important part of every ounce of my being. It instills discipline, dedication, confidence and grace into every aspect of our lives. I feel it is my purpose in life to pass that wonderful gift on to whoever gives me that chance.”
